These images show examples from a series of works I completed for my 2011 HSC Visual Arts major work. While they are not a representation of incredible fine art skill, the works were based on social and historical concerns relating to the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and the effects of nuclear technology on a wider scale. The dire situation and consequence of the event is strongly contrasted against the dynamic and decaying aesthetic of the now deserted built environment of the area. It is in this way that my amateur art is able to form a reflective perspective and transcend its basic physical form to communicate a more abstract understanding.
